The Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Farmers in four sets last night at Mount Vernon High school, making them Bi-District Champions. They will play the Springhill Pantherettes but more details are to come about time and location.
“It was a super, super good win. I knew from the warm up that it was going to be one of the best games we’ve ever had,” senior Maggie Prejean said.
Maggie wasn’t the only one feeling the good energy — the whole gym felt it. Fans cheering on the team only gave the girls more drive to secure the win.
“When the first whistle blew, everyone’s adrenaline was just like rushing through the whole entire gym,” Maggie said. “And our fans were amazing. They really helped us with our victory, and it was just a really good win.”
The Lady Hawks aren’t a stranger to the Lady farmers though. This was their third time playing them this year, winning one and dropping one game to them.
“The first time we played them, we matched up well but the second time we played inconsistently and we lost. So going into this we watched a lot of film, practiced them hitting our weak spots, and hitting their weak spots.”
The game was a team victory and it took effort from everybody. Knowing what to do as group ultimately helped them in the long run.
“Farmersville had one really good player while we are very well rounded as a whole. We have more depth than them and I think it really showed last night,” Maggie said. “We watched film of their ‘go to’ player and learned her habits so we make her less of a threat.”
