Varsity basketball will play Caddo Mills in the bi-district round of playoffs Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Como Pickton.
With a regular season record of 21-10 and a second place finish in district, the team looks to move on to Area over Caddo Mills with an almost identical season record of 21-12 and a fourth place finish in district.
Coach Craig Collvins has a gameplan to give the Hawks the edge in winning their first playoff game in seven years.
“We want to stay in transition as much as possible,” Coach Collvins said. “We want to press them on defense because I think we’re a little bit more athletic. I think we can hopefully wear them down.”
For the seniors who have experienced the past few years, this playoff game is more than just a winning record—it’s about leaving a legacy.
“We’ve finally put basketball back on the map here,” senior Joachim Mbonu said. “We decided that we were tired of losing and started really playing together as one team.”
