Students from across the city will be meeting at Hawk Field for the annual Fields of Faith event on Oct. 1. FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is hosting the event that includes tailgating in the parking lot at 5:20. The actual Field of Faith starts at 7:00.
“There’s some people that travel hours for this and the whole stadium is filled with
people on the field and stands. It is a really powerful night,” senior Avery Benich said.
The night is going to be full of food, testimonies, worship, a message, and games.
“It’s a really fun night not just because of the games, food, and seeing my friends but also because it’s so cool seeing how many people get saved,” senior Carley Rhodes said.
In the past years, the first 1,000 people got chicken express but this year they are hosting a tailgate party in the new softball and baseball complexes. There will be cornhole, Chicken Express, Gusansos, and a cookout.
“We are blessed that we all get to gather together from all different schools and have fun events like tailgating,” senior Abby Henard said. “But then also the same night we get to worship as a group together.
Fields of Faith is a life changing event for many people every single year.
“There’s so many people who get saved so it makes them obviously want to keep doing it, because every single year there’s so many people that really rededicate or gain salvation,” Carley said.
While the event is hosted by FCA on the football field, everyone is welcomed.
“It’s cool to gather on a field where you play sports. And it’s not only just for athletes, FCA is for everybody,” senior Abby Henard said. “ You can do these types of events anywhere, and anyone can do it because it’s right there in your local backyard.
