Coming off a blowout win in Week 3 against the Daingerfield Tigers, the No. 2-ranked Hawks will face off Friday night against Kilgore. The Bulldogs are also ranked No. 2, but in Division 4A-1.
This game is more than just another one on the schedule. It’s one of the ten Texas high school football games this year that will be nationally televised, and a matchup between two of the highest ranked programs in Texas battling to keep their spot solidified.
“I am excited for this game because, coming from a small town, we never got opportunities like this so that is pretty neat.” junior quarterback Colton Yancey said. “I also think that we will be able to handle the pressure well because our team played Kilgore and Carthage last year which were big games so I feel like we’re ready.”
Last year, the Bulldogs won the game by a touchdown in double overtime, but this year the Hawks have tweaked the playbook to get payback.
“We have put in three new plays this week in practice and I think that this will definitely give us the upper hand on them.” junior wide receiver Landon Fincher said, “Especially after watching film on their cornerbacks I think our gameplan this week is very good.”
